Noble fir is a tall, symmetrical tree that has a straight trunk and a narrow, spire-like crown with horizontal branches. The needles are arranged spirally along the branches and are typically dark green on the upper surface and whitish-blue on the underside. They are flat and linear. Noble fir produces cylindrical cones that are erect and sit upright on the branches. The cones are long and have purplish-green or blue-green scales. Each cone contains winged seeds that are dispersed by the wind.
