In April 2023, Ulster Bank partnered with the Tree Council of Ireland as part of its community legacy programme following the closure of its branch network. To commemorate the 190 branches that had served communities across Ireland, the bank funded the planting of 190 native Irish trees at the Tree Council of Ireland’s flagship woodland creation project in Ballymacarbry, Co. Waterford—one tree for every branch in its network.
Although modest in scale, the planting serves as a meaningful tribute to the communities that Ulster Bank supported over many years. The trees form part of the wider Ballymacarbry woodland, where they will contribute to biodiversity, provide habitat for wildlife, and become part of a growing native forest.
The project reflects the value of partnerships that support practical environmental action. By contributing to the Tree Council of Ireland’s woodland creation programme, Ulster Bank has helped create a lasting legacy that will benefit both nature and future generations.
